Day 1 - "There Once Was A Boy who Learned To Fly..." |
"His Name Was
JIMMY JET!" |
Our first class began with a lesson based on my original character & childrens adventure series JIMMY JET. |
We are learning new concepts in drawing such as; concentric vs. spiral, parallel vs. perspective and the morphing of simple
shapes into basic anatomy and simple logo designs... |
Day 2 - TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! |
Introducing my new assistant - and youngest daughter Jessie - She works well with the younger students, keeps all our pencils
sharpened and is an excellent draftsman in her own right.Building on last week's lesson we continue developing classic characters
and introduce the use of dramatic lighting while encouraging artistic license. |
Day 3 - The Mighty Astro aka ASTRO BOY |
Osamu Tezuka's
creation of the little boy robot "Atomo" sprang from his admiration of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse. We learn that all cartoon characters borrow something and here we show them how! The addition of dramatic backdrops and significant props in the foreground brings our compositions to a new level after only a few sessions!
