Am I a movie cliche' or what? |

HIGH NOON w/ Gary Cooper comes to mind. |

The local paper just ran a small display ad for |
|

a new Editorial Cartoonist. |

I took the bait - hook, line and sinker. |

Coming out of retirement
these past 10 days while I pondered the loose parameters of the trial assignment - & learned a few things about myself. No longer interested in doing the same old things. Those can be had from any syndicate. Also no longer interested in a daily deadline. I have been drawn more and more into exactingly detailed scenes

But I picked up my shooting irons again nonetheless. |

This time to reset the high bar of my goals and to create something of value and concern to the community. Borrowing elements from my
greatest teachers; the high drama of Milt Caniff's "STEVE CANYON" and the way-ahead-of-his-time wide screen Western panoramas of Stan Lynde's "RICK O'SHAY". Like Will Eisner's "SPIRIT", I found the
conscience of the city embodied in the larger- than-life bronze castings of Arizona pioneers throughout Prescott. I have breathed life into them. These strips occupy the same square inch space as traditional
editorials but in an exciting new 2-panel format! Don't know yet if these will make the cut and see print but I hope you enjoy them... |

Prescott, AZ - I succumbed once again to an ad soliciting my opinionated ruminations. In a boomarang of a compliment - they
rejected my first proposal AND MADE ME A FINALIST in their cartoon competition... |
|
|
Ironically I quoted Mark Twain at the top of this section - who late in life attempted more
serious writing than his early career - only to be typecast into cranking out more "funny books". I appear to be a similar victim of my own sarcasm. |

Above is the thumbnail link to the follow-up submission, wherein I assault everyone at City Hall with a good-intentioned mustachio! For the
