Those already in the know will recognize Jay Leno's formula of foolishness above; two parts sage wisdom with a chaser of one part codswoddle. But it serves my point so...
I think it was the first really influential book in my library that gets credit here today; Disney's "Animation ~ The Illusion of Life". What left it's indelible mark was a small reference photo showing how animators would refer to hand mirrors as they mugged funny faces they would then transfer to the characters they were designing.
Whether you buy that alibi or harbor other suspicions to the portrait hanging in my attic I do confess that as I worked out the lexicon for this alphabet stew, it did take on a cruel Rorschach quality that was far more revealing than I had originally planned.
As I have oft timed written; "Life imitates art ~ and vice versa." I hope my own exercise in mugging for the mirror helps you to do the same.
We cannot truly make the world a better place until we are comfortable in our own skin.
